Slow Art Fiber
exploring the fibers and colors of nature
My foundation years were spent living with my great aunt, Orienta Eichhorn, a Cincinnati dressmaker. Growing up in that household, textiles and handwork were just a part of everyday life. There were closets of fabric, boxes of buttons, trims and laces- all waiting to be explored. It was an environment filled with warmth and magic, and continues to inform my work even today.
A great love for the natural world has also brought me to my work with natural dyes and fibers. Whether tending to my little flock of sheep or foraging about for interesting leaves and dyestuff, I am in constant exploration of the endless mysteries that our planet holds. The Earth is just waiting to be engaged, and my work feels to be a conversation.
